I have the honour to transit for your
information the enclosed copy of a letter from the Secretary
of the Sanitary Board together with its annexure relative to
the establishment of a reading room for the Sanitary Staff at
the District Office in Hollywood Road, and to inform you that
I have approved of the scheme and authorised the payment of
the expenditure involved during the year 1903 out of the
Vote for Incidental Expenses' on the Sanitary Department,

I have now to request your authority,
in the event of the experiment proving successful, for making
provision for the expenditure incurred in lighting (about $6
a month) in the Estimates for 1904.
